Healthy Connections is proud to announce that Angela Martin, APRN, has joined our care team in De Queen.

Martin, who has worked most of her career in De Queen as a nurse and nurse practitioner, will be seeing patients at Healthy Connections’ new De Queen clinic, located at 1206 W. Collin Raye Drive. Appointments can be made by calling (888) 710-8220.

Martin owned the Martin Family Medical Clinic for several years before working at De Queen Medical Center before it closed. She has been a nurse for 28 years and a nurse practitioner for the past eight years. She’s lived in De Queen for more than 20 years.

“When I was an ER nurse, you see patients all the time that don’t need to be at the ER. They need to be seen in a clinic setting. And at the time, there weren’t a lot of providers in De Queen,” Martin said. “I just wanted to be able to help people.”

Martin sees patients from ages 0 to 99+ in the family practice clinic.

“I’m comfortable with all different types of family practice care,” she said.

Healthy Connections De Queen is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. This clinic sees both pediatrics and family medical/primary care patients.

As a family nurse practitioner, Martin is a registered nurse with specialized educational and clinical training in family practice. Family Nurse Practitioners are trained to work with both children and adults, most often in the context of a family practice setting. They work with patients on maintaining health and wellness over the long term with a particular focus on preventative care.

Healthy Connections is a Mena-based nonprofit organization serving the needs of children and adults throughout West-Central Arkansas. Since its founding in 1998 as a home-visiting program, Healthy Connections has been able to provide much-needed health, dental and social services to families of every lifestyle.

Healthy Connections accepts Medicaid, including ArKids First, Medicare and most forms of health and dental insurance. However, no person will be turned away for lack of insurance. Qualified families will be charged according to their total family income and total persons living in the household. This sliding scale fee allows many to receive treatment who otherwise would not have been able to afford it.

There are currently 10 clinics located in Mena, Hot Springs, Malvern, Arkadelphia, Mount Ida, and De Queen providing primary care/family medicine. Depending on location, Healthy Connections also offers dental, behavioral health, cardiology, pediatrics, podiatry, chiropractic, physical therapy, and OB/GYN women’s services.
