Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received.

Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling.

Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse.

As we celebrate Thanksgiving 2023, we asked our dedicated Healthy Connections employees what they are thankful for, reflecting the spirit of gratitude within our community-focused, compassionate, and excellence-driven healthcare organization.

Making it through a 2nd occurrance of breast cancer and having an employer who allows flexible working hours to accommodate taking off for treatment and doctor appointments.

This year as I count my blessings and give thanks I reflect on the past and the hurdles my youngest son has dealt with having a chronic blood cancer. I am thankful for everyday I have been blessed to be his mother, I am thankful for my grand-daughter Ophelia who has surpassed all expected milestones being born premature at 30 weeks gestation and spending so many months in NICU. I am thankful I remain healthy and active so that I can continue to care for others, and the opportunity to offer each person I come in contact with a smile, sometimes a hug, and often just words of encouragement. I have a roof over my head, a loving family, successful thriving children who continue to amaze me with their giving hearts each one choosing a career of service to others ,..what more could I ask for? My heart is full.

I am always thankful for God and the road that He has laid out before me, as well as being blessed with my family and friends. However, this year I have added a new blessing on my list of things to be thankful for. I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to work with all of the staff from Healthy Connections. I have not met one person that wasn’t a pleasure to be around and didn’t have a great attitude. I love helping patients have the things and knowledge they need to feel better and I feel that everyone I have worked with has the same goals. It’s wonderful!

I’m thankful for the gift of life, some days I know all of wake up and wish we could just stay home and in bed, I’m guilty of it most days but I’m learning to be thankful for the days I have on this earth. While I have the pleasure of being able to get out of bed and walk and breath on my own others don’t, even some of our own patients don’t get that luxury. Therefore, I’m learning to be grateful for the things God allows me to do. I am also very thankful for my family, my job, my amazing work family, and my freedom.

I am thankful for infinite things but two that stand out the most to me are: I am thankful for my struggles because without them I could not appreciate my success. I am thankful for my children because I get to experience unconditional love and precious moments of motherhood (the good, the bad, and the ugly).
