Healthy Connections is seeking a dedicated Referral Coordinator for our flagship clinic in Mena. As a Referral Coordinator, you will be responsible for efficiently coordinating and processing all patient referrals for specialty services and diagnostic testing.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Patient Relations

- Process patient referrals for specialty services and diagnostic testing with meticulous attention to detail.
- Follow established protocols for proper authorization and seamless processing of all referrals and diagnostic testing.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to educate patients and their families, offering assistance with external resources when necessary.
- Maintain timely communication with patients to ensure all scheduling requirements are met.
- Accurately enter all referrals and authorizations into the computer system while upholding patient confidentiality.
- Staff Relations/Team Support

- Perform essential duties as required by the Medical Director or Manager of Provider and Patient Experience to achieve the primary goal of delivering exceptional healthcare services.
- Assist in managing patient calls and triage following established protocols, efficiently scheduling referrals for appointments and procedures.
- Clinical Duties

- Maintain the necessary licensure for performing assigned duties, including the completion of any required Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
- Provide assistance to clinic nurses as needed.
- Coordinate the completion of insurance-recommended guidelines and criteria to establish medical necessity for prior authorization when providers order diagnostic testing and/or specialty referrals.
Reporting Relationship
The referral Coordinator reports to and is supervised by the Manager of Provider and Patient Experience.
Qualifications
- Certification of practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse, Medical Assistant, or equivalent, or a minimum of four years of supervised nursing experience.
- Must be qualified in Basic Life Support techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and familiarity with network systems.
- Strong ability to comprehend and communicate verbal instructions and information effectively.
- Exceptional organizational, written, and customer service skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain courteous working relationships with patients, staff team members, business entities, and others.
- Proficiency in independent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving.
