Healthy Connections is expanding its work to bring healthcare services and resources closer to people across Arkansas through the new Mobile Access Clinic (MAC).
The MAC gives Healthy Connections another way to serve communities beyond the walls of its established clinics. It will support community outreach, healthcare education, screenings, and other appropriate clinical services while helping connect patients with continuing healthcare resources and established medical homes.
For more than 27 years, Healthy Connections has worked to improve access to compassionate, high-quality healthcare. The Mobile Access Clinic extends that work into communities where distance, transportation and other barriers can make receiving care more difficult.
A Clinical Environment Designed for Community Care
The nearly 39-foot Mobile Access Clinic provides Healthy Connections healthcare professionals with a safe, private and clinically appropriate setting for serving patients in community locations.
The self-contained clinical environment includes:
- Two private exam rooms
- A central laboratory and clinical work area
- Diagnostic equipment
- Onboard utilities
- A private restroom
- A wheelchair lift for accessibility
These features will allow Healthy Connections teams to perform appropriate clinical work outside a permanent clinic while maintaining patient privacy and professional standards.
Services, locations, operating hours and appointment information will be announced as individual visits are scheduled.
Community, Compassion and Excellence in Action
The Mobile Access Clinic puts the three principles that guide Healthy Connections into action.
Community means expanding healthcare access and reaching people in places where distance, transportation or limited local resources can make receiving care more difficult.
Compassion means meeting people where they are and providing every patient with dignity, respect and personalized care.
Excellence means maintaining the standards Healthy Connections patients expect, regardless of whether care is provided at an established clinic or in a community setting.
The MAC will complement Healthy Connections locations throughout Arkansas. Permanent clinics will continue to provide patients with ongoing healthcare services and established medical homes. The Mobile Access Clinic provides another way to conduct outreach, respond to community needs, and help patients connect with continuing care.
Reaching Rural Arkansas Communities
Initial plans include serving communities in and around Malvern, Russellville and De Queen. The MAC will also have opportunities to reach additional Arkansas communities as partnerships are developed and its operating schedule takes shape.
The Mobile Access Clinic was made possible through funding from Healthy Connections and support from the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP).
That support will help Healthy Connections bring appropriate healthcare services and resources into rural communities while advancing the organization’s broader work to improve access to care.
