Access Affordable Healthcare for Your Family

Healthy Connections provides a pathway to essential services through Medicaid and ARKids First, giving you access to a range of healthcare needs at little to no cost. That means:

Who Qualifies?

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) uses Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) to determine eligibility. As a general rule, individuals who qualify for SSI are automatically eligible for AR Medicaid.

ARKids A covers children under the age of 19 whose family income is at or below 100% of the federal poverty level (FPL). 

ARKids B is available for children under the age of 19 who do not have access to medical insurance through their parent’s employer or cannot use their insurance.

Medicaid also offers temporary services called Medicaid Spend-Down for individuals whose income does not qualify them for Medicaid but they spend most of their money on medical care. Additionally, aged or disabled individuals may qualify for spend-down services, long-term care, or in-home assistance through programs like AR Choices.

You can apply for Medicaid through your local Department of Human Services (DHS) office. If you are unable to go, a friend or family member can apply for you.
