Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Act: What Arkansas Families Need to Know—And How Healthy Connections Can Help You Right Now

If you’re pregnant, planning to start a family, or raising a newborn in Arkansas, there’s a new law you need to know about. The Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies Act (Act 124) is changing the way healthcare is delivered to women and children in our state—and Healthy Connections is here to help you take full advantage of these life-changing benefits.

At Healthy Connections, we don’t just treat patients—we walk beside families from the first positive pregnancy test to a child’s first day of school. With clinic locations across Western and Central Arkansas and deep roots in the communities we serve, we’re uniquely positioned to meet the needs of moms, babies, and families in this new era of care.

Get Free Home Support as a First-Time Mom: Healthy Families Arkansas

If you’re a first-time mom living in Polk or Garland County, we have something just for you: free, in-home support through Healthy Families Arkansas. This program offers personalized, one-on-one visits starting in pregnancy and continuing through the early years of your child’s life. It’s not just a program—it’s a support system.

Our trained home visitors help you understand what to expect during pregnancy, prepare for childbirth, learn how to care for a newborn, and build a safe, healthy home for your child. Whether you need help finding healthcare, navigating nutrition, or understanding infant development milestones, we’ll be there.

This is a game-changer for moms who want the tools, confidence, and support to give their baby the strongest possible start. And it’s completely free for qualifying families.

Expanded Prenatal and Women’s Health Services—Now Easier to Access

Thanks to Act 124, pregnant women can now qualify for presumptive Medicaid eligibility, meaning you can start prenatal care right away—even before your paperwork is finalized. That means no waiting weeks for an appointment. Healthy Connections helps you get in quickly and start the care you need.

At our clinics, OB/GYN Dr. Kara Worley leads a women’s health team that provides prenatal checkups, postpartum care, gynecology, wellness exams, and hormone therapy. We now offer up to 14 covered prenatal and postnatal visits—more than ever before. That means more touchpoints, more monitoring, and more chances to catch problems early and keep you and your baby healthy.

We also offer telehealth options like remote blood pressure and glucose monitoring, making it easier to stay connected to your provider—even from home.

Pediatric Care You Can Count On—Everywhere You Need It

Once your baby is born, your journey with Healthy Connections continues. We provide pediatric care at every single clinic location, plus additional support at My Kids Pediatric Clinics in Hot Springs Central, Malvern, and Arkadelphia.

Our pediatric team includes Dr. Tracy Rowe and Dr. Jeremy Porter, providing everything from well-child visits and immunizations to sick care and developmental screenings. Whether it’s your baby’s first checkup or your toddler’s next vaccine, we’ll be there.

This Is the Help You’ve Been Waiting For—Let’s Get Started

You don’t have to figure this out alone. Whether you’re newly pregnant, raising a newborn, or seeking better care for your child, Healthy Connections can help you make the most of the services now available under Arkansas law.

We accept Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurance plans, and offer a sliding-fee scale for those without coverage. We’ve been doing this for more than 25 years—and now, with expanded laws and services, we’re ready to do even more.
