One Box Closer: How a Simple Cereal Donation Can Help Fight Hunger in Arkansas

When the school year ends, so do school meals. And for far too many families across Arkansas, that means children wake up to uncertainty instead of breakfast.

Thatโ€™s why the THV11 Summer Cereal Drive exists. And itโ€™s why Healthy Connections is proud to serve as a collection partner again this yearโ€”helping families, feeding kids, and fighting hunger. This week, weโ€™re asking for just one thing from our community:

Help us get one box closer.

Every Box Counts

The concept is simple, but the impact is powerful. Donate a box of cereal. Thatโ€™s it. But that boxโ€”affordable, shelf-stable, and ready to eatโ€”fills a critical gap when school cafeterias close for the summer.

For a child facing food insecurity, a single box of cereal can mean several meals they wouldnโ€™t have otherwise. And the need is real: 1 in 5 children in Arkansas experiences hunger during the summer months.

At Healthy Connections, we believe health doesnโ€™t begin in a doctorโ€™s office. It starts with basic needs being metโ€”food, stability, care. Thatโ€™s why weโ€™re not just providing medical, dental, and behavioral health services across Arkansas. Weโ€™re also showing up for our communities in moments like this.

Our Clinics Are Stepping Up

Weโ€™ve already seen an incredible response from our staff, patients, and partners across the state. Special recognition goes to the team at our Malvern Teeter Plaza clinic, who have already collected more than 300 boxes of cerealโ€”a major milestone in this campaign. Their commitment to the community is what this drive is all about.

Whether youโ€™re in Little Rock, Hot Springs, Mena, De Queen, or any of the many Arkansas communities we serve, thereโ€™s a Healthy Connections clinic nearby where you can make a difference. Our teams are ready to receive your donations and continue pushing us one box closer to our goal.

Why Healthy Connections?

For more than 25 years, Healthy Connections has provided affordable healthcare services in Arkansas, including family medicine, dental care, and mental health services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we treat everyoneโ€”regardless of income or insurance statusโ€”and believe deeply in serving the whole person, not just their symptoms.

But being a healthcare provider also means being a community partner. When hunger rises, we rise with our neighbors to meet the need. Weโ€™re not just collecting cerealโ€”weโ€™re building a healthier, stronger Arkansas, one box at a time.

How You Can Help

๐Ÿ“ฆ Donate cereal at any Healthy Connections clinic now through June 15
๐Ÿ“ Find your nearest clinic: https://healthy-connections.org/locations
๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Spread the word. Challenge your friends, your coworkers, your church, or your neighborhood group to join the effort. Post about it, talk about it, and help us multiply the impact.

No box is too small. No donation goes unnoticed. Every box brings us one box closer to feeding a child, helping a family, and building a better future.

Letโ€™s Do This Together

Arkansas families need us right now. Schoolโ€™s out, and the breakfast table is a little emptier for thousands of kids across the state. But we can change thatโ€”together.

Letโ€™s not wait. Letโ€™s not wonder who will step up.

Letโ€™s be the reason. Letโ€™s be the help. Letโ€™s get one box closer.
