Dr. Absalom Tilley Highlights Urgency of Men’s Health on THV11’s The Vine

Dr. Absalom Tilley appeared live on THV11’s The Vine at 9 this week to discuss Playbook Men’s Health by Healthy Connections and why men cannot afford to delay care.

During the interview, Dr. Tilley delivered a sobering reminder about what happens when health is ignored.

“The most common symptom and sign that men have that let us know that they have heart disease is sudden death,” he said.

He went on to explain that many serious conditions develop silently. The average person diagnosed with diabetes, he noted, has often been living with the disease for years before it is discovered.

Playbook Men’s Health was created to address that reality. Using a sports-based framework, the program encourages men to stop “playing through it” and instead take a proactive approach to their health. The initiative emphasizes comprehensive, relationship-based care — from preventive screenings and lab work to physical and behavioral health — all within the Healthy Connections network.

“It’s not that tough to get somebody into their 70s and 80s anymore,” Dr. Tilley said during the segment. “The challenge is really getting them there with a high quality of life.”

He also acknowledged what many families already know: women are often the ones pushing the men in their lives to schedule appointments. Playbook Men’s Health aims to make that conversation easier by providing a clear, structured plan for long-term wellness.

Unlike clinics that focus on a single issue such as hormones or weight loss, Playbook Men’s Health delivers whole-person primary care designed to improve both lifespan and quality of life.
