For generations of patients in Malvern and throughout Hot Spring County, David Brewer, DDS, is already a familiar name.
After spending nearly five decades in private dental practice, Dr. Brewer will begin seeing patients at Healthy Connections Hot Springs Chippewa, 1723 Malvern Ave. in Hot Springs. Both former patients and new patients can schedule appointments now by calling 888-710-8220.

Dr. Brewer spent 49 years in private practice, much of that time serving patients from Malvern and communities throughout the region.
His reach extended well beyond one city.

That regional history makes Dr. Brewer’s move to Healthy Connections especially meaningful. Many patients in Hot Springs and surrounding communities may already know him from his years practicing in Malvern, while others will now have the opportunity to establish care with a dentist who brings decades of experience to every visit.
Dr. Brewer grew up in El Dorado, Arkansas. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Arkansas before attending the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
He later completed a residency program at Baylor Dental School focused on cosmetic dentistry and performed many cosmetic cases during his years in private practice.
General dentistry with a conservative approach
At Healthy Connections Hot Springs Chippewa, Dr. Brewer will provide general dentistry, including care such as fillings, extractions, crowns, bridges, partial dentures and dentures. He also has extensive experience with veneers and cosmetic dentistry.
But after nearly 50 years in the profession, Dr. Brewer says his approach to dentistry remains centered on something much simpler: doing what is right for the individual patient.
“I’ve always been more of a conservative dentist and always kept the patient’s best interests at heart.”
Dr. Brewer describes his patient-care philosophy as listening first, understanding what the patient wants and then presenting options for solving the problem. He also believes a dentist should be mindful of the financial impact of treatment and be a good steward of the patient’s money.
That means recommending the care he believes is needed rather than automatically recommending more treatment.
It is an approach that fits closely with Healthy Connections’ commitment to providing high-quality, compassionate care centered around the needs of each patient.
Nearly 50 years of experience — and still passionate about dentistry
Dr. Brewer’s decision to join Healthy Connections gives him an opportunity to continue doing the work he has enjoyed throughout his career while practicing close to his Hot Springs home.
He has lived in the Hot Springs area for more than a decade and says he enjoys both Hot Springs and the surrounding region.
For patients, his experience represents thousands of appointments, countless treatment decisions and decades spent helping people understand their dental options.

Life outside the dental office
When Dr. Brewer isn’t practicing dentistry or spending time with family, there is a good chance he has a guitar in his hands.
He and his wife, Susan, have been married for 52 years. They have three sons, one daughter and 13 grandchildren.
Dr. Brewer is a longtime fingerstyle guitarist whose biggest musical influence is Chet Atkins. He originally played lead guitar in a rock band before hearing Atkins and becoming interested in a different style of playing.
His musical tastes may not always follow the latest trends.
“So my music is about as popular as a 61 Chevrolet. But it’s what I like to play.”

Healthy Connections provides dental care for patients of all ages and accepts most major dental insurance plans, including Medicaid. A household income-based sliding fee scale is also available for qualifying patients.
