Healthy Connections continued its strong commitment to community support on Friday, June 13, with a successful appearance at the THV11 Summer Cereal Drive event in Russellville. Staff from the Healthy Connections Russellville clinic collected and donated 129 boxes of cereal, all benefitting the Arkansas Foodbank and helping provide meals to local children and families this summer.
The event took place at the Walmart Supercenter on East Main Street, where THV11 broadcast live throughout the morning as part of its Vine at Nine coverage. Dr. Leslie Ward, MD, was interviewed live on-air by Tom Brannon, speaking about Healthy Connections’ role in the region and the importance of stepping up to support families during the summer months when childhood hunger rates rise.
Clinic provider Kaylee Wolfe, APRN, also attended the event to support the effort alongside staff members from across the Russellville location. Their participation helped elevate the visibility of this important cause and reinforce Healthy Connections’ investment in the well-being of the community.
“Our team understands that healthcare goes beyond the walls of our clinics,” said Jeffrey Slatton, Business Communications and Marketing Manager at Healthy Connections. “Events like the Summer Cereal Drive allow us to connect with our communities in a meaningful way and demonstrate what compassion and service really look like in action.” He also praised Cereal Cap’n Hannah Shirley for leading the charge at the Russellville clinic and ensuring the team’s full participation.
The Russellville clinic, located at 3312 West Main Street, offers a wide range of services including family medicine, addiction treatment, immunodeficiency care, physicals, wellness visits, and more. The clinic is in-network for most insurance plans and offers a sliding fee scale for patients without insurance who qualify.
With the addition of the Russellville clinic’s contribution, Healthy Connections has now donated more than 2,000 boxes of cereal as part of the 2025 Summer Cereal Drive. These donations directly support the Arkansas Foodbank and other local food pantries across the state.
Next up is the largest cereal drive event yet, set for Tuesday, June 17, at the Walmart Supercenter on Central Avenue in Hot Springs, where Healthy Connections is the official Hot Springs Region Sponsor of the drive.
