Healthy Connections Community Health Network announces the retirement of Dr. Terry Jefferson, MD, who has served patients at the Little Rock Midtown / Health For Life Clinic with dedication, compassion, and clinical excellence.
Dr. Jefferson’s career spans decades of service in internal medicine and preventive care, with a legacy rooted in meeting patients where they are and providing care without judgment. He is widely recognized as a pioneer in fields that require both medical expertise and human understanding, including early HIV care and prevention, at a time when few providers were willing to step forward. Long before inclusive, prevention-focused care became a common language in healthcare, Dr. Jefferson was already practicing it every day. Over more than two decades, he built a practice rooted in access, dignity, and trust—providing care to patients who too often had nowhere else to turn.
“Dr. Jefferson has been a trusted physician, an advocate for his patients, and a quiet trailblazer in areas of care that demand courage and compassion,” said Tony Calandro, CEO of Healthy Connections. “We are deeply grateful for the years he devoted to serving our communities. His impact extends far beyond exam rooms and charts—he changed lives, advanced care, and helped set a standard that we remain committed to every day.”
The Health For Life Clinic joined Healthy Connections several years ago, strengthening access to comprehensive, community-based healthcare in Little Rock. Since that time, Dr. Jefferson has continued his work as part of the Healthy Connections network, supporting the organization’s mission to provide high-quality, accessible care for all.
While Dr. Jefferson’s retirement marks the close of an important chapter, the Little Rock Midtown / Health For Life Clinic remains fully operational and committed to continuity of care. Patients will continue to receive services from an experienced clinical team, including Absalom H. Tilley, MD, Gina Tilley, MD, and Carter Norman, APRN. This team continues the clinic’s long-standing commitment to respectful, comprehensive care, ensuring patients experience a seamless transition and uninterrupted access to services.
Appointments are currently available, and patients are encouraged to continue their care at the clinic without interruption. Healthy Connections accepts Medicaid, Medicare, most major insurance plans, and offers a sliding fee scale for qualifying patients.
As Dr. Jefferson steps into retirement, Healthy Connections extends its sincere thanks for his years of service and leadership. His contributions helped build a foundation that will continue to support patients and communities for years to come.
