Wound Care

Our Services

Treatment of chronic wounds or wounds that do not heal is not a simple course and one type of treatment does not fit all patients. The Healthy Connections wound care clinic, located in Hot Springs, uses a broad-based approach to treat wounds.

TREATMENT FOR VENOUS AND ARTERIAL INSUFFICIENCY

Treatment can depend on many factors, including the reason for the condition and your health status and history. Other factors to consider are specific symptoms, the patient’s age, the severity of the condition, and how well the patient can tolerate medications or procedures. Our expectations are to heal the wound, improve blood flow, and reduce edema (swelling).

TREATMENT FOR DIABETIC ULCERS

Diabetes can make sores and ulcers more likely. Ulcers are open sores (also called wounds) on your skin that don’t heal the way they should. Patients are most likely to get ulcers in their feet and legs (and other areas of insufficiency). Ulcers are dangerous because they can lead to serious infections, which can cause medical complications.

TREATMENT FOR NON-HEALING SURGICAL WOUNDS

A non-healing surgical wound can occur after surgery when a wound caused by an incision doesn’t heal as expected. This is usually caused by infection, a rare but serious complication. Causes of poor wound-healing depend on the type and location of the procedure, health condition, and other factors..
