October Employees of the Month

Congratulations to our Healthy Connections October Employees of the Month:

  • EAST: JESSICA LAND

  • WEST: AMANDA BARRETT

As Employees of the Month, they are entitled to either a $50 gift card or one day off.

Jessica and Amanda exemplify the Healthy Connections pillars of Excellence, Compassion, and Community. Jessica is the Patient Care Coordinator at the Arkadelphia clinic, while Amanda is the Clinical Support Coordinator in Mena.

Check out what Jessica’s co-workers had to say about her:

  • Jessica is always positive and very personable. She is helpful at all times and knowledgeable and if she does not know something, she doesn’t “pass the buck.” She will find out how to address an issue and handle it accordingly.
  • Jessica is always here with a smile on her face. I have never heard one complaint from her. She is always one of the first to address any mishaps in our office. She will be one of the first to address cleanliness with any accidents that happen. She will always assist with anything asked of her. She is always professional with all aspects of her job. She is an asset to Healthy Connections and a joy to work with.
  • Jessica goes out of her way to make the day special. She is always trying to help someone other than herself, She puts her job first as a patient care coordinator. This office could not run smoothly without her. I nominate her because she puts our patients first.

And what Amanda’s co-workers had to say about her:

  • I wouldn’t have made it through my maternity leave without Amanda picking up a majority of my work. She did a great job and never once complained about the extra workload sent her way. Not only did she make being out possible for me but she kept everything with the providers running smoothly and they did not feel abandoned while I was out. I couldn’t do it without her.
  • Amanda is always very attentive to anything I may need. She is prompt in finding answers to my questions and taking care of anything I need. If I call Amanda, even if I don’t leave a voicemail, she always returns my call. Also, she always follows up with me to ensure my issues are resolved.

De Queen’s Brown Joins Healthy Connections

DE QUEEN – Healthy Connections is excited to announce that De Queen’s Inja Brown, APRN, has joined the staff in De Queen.

Brown will see both pediatrics and adult patients at the new Healthy Connections clinic, located at 1206 W. Collin Raye Drive in De Queen. She will join the staff of providers that includes Terri Devlin, MD, Carolin Hockersmith, APRN, and Angela Martin, APRN. For appointments, call toll free (888) 710-8220.

Brown, who attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, and Martin previously worked together at the Martin Family Clinic in De Queen.

“I’m excited. I’ve heard great things about Healthy Connections and love that it’s local. I get to treat these people who I know,” Brown said.

She was born in El Salvador but moved to Dallas at a young age. She then moved to De Queen at age 12, where she has spent the majority of her life.

“I’ve worked in De Queen ever since I graduated,” she said. “I basically grew up here.”

Brown sees patients from ages 0 to 99 in the primary care/family medicine specialty.

“I just try to give everybody the best care I can give them,” she said. “I like what I do and every day is like a new experience for me.”

As a Certified Nurse Practitioner, Martin is a registered nurse with specialized educational and clinical training in family practice. CNP’s are trained to work with both children and adults, most often in the context of a family practice setting. They work with patients on maintaining health and wellness over the long term with a particular focus on preventative care.

Healthy Connections is a Mena-based nonprofit organization serving the needs of children and adults throughout West-Central Arkansas. Since its founding in 1998 as a home-visiting program, Healthy Connections has been able to provide much-needed health, dental and social services to families of every lifestyle.

Healthy Connections accepts Medicaid, including ArKids First, Medicare and most forms of health and dental insurance. However, no person will be turned away for lack of insurance. Qualified families will be charged according to their total family income and total persons living in the household. This sliding scale fee allows many to receive treatment who otherwise would not have been able to afford it.

“A lot of people will be able to see me because of what Healthy Connections offers,” Brown said. “People can come here when they might not be able to afford somewhere else.”

There are currently 10 clinics located in Mena, Hot Springs, Malvern, Arkadelphia, Mount Ida, and De Queen providing primary care/family medicine. Depending on location, Healthy Connections also offers dental, behavioral health, cardiology, pediatrics, podiatry, chiropractic, physical therapy, and OB/GYN women’s services.

Malvern Clinic Moving in December

More exam rooms, state-of-the-art patient experience, convenient location, and Malvern students still get priority scheduling

Dear Healthy Connections Patient:

In 2016, Healthy Connections opened the Malvern clinic to great success at the Malvern School District Wellness Center. It has been our pleasure to serve as your healthcare provider since then. We appreciate and value your trust, and hope you will consider joining us in our new venture.

In order to ensure we continue to provide the best service to you, we are moving to a new location at 900 Martin Luther King Boulevard in Malvern. This location in Teeter Plaza will allow us to better serve the community with more exam rooms and a more patient-friendly, state-of-the-art environment.

Healthy Connections will continue to provide the same primary care/family medical, pediatrics, and mental and behavioral health therapy you have come to expect from us. We do not anticipate your care team changing with our physicians, advanced nurse practitioners, and therapists.  The clinic located at the College of the Ouachitas’ Health Center in Malvern will also remain open and available to see patients.

We were recently honored when Healthy Connections and the Malvern School District were presented with the Whole Child Award by the Arkansas School-Based Health Center initiative. This award is presented to school-based health centers that do a “great job assessing and serving the health, social, personal and emotional needs of students.”

We will continue to be available to care for Malvern School District students, giving them priority scheduling during school hours.

The Healthy Connections Community Health Network will continue to accept Medicaid, including ARKids First, Medicare, and most forms of health insurance. Additionally, we will continue to offer our sliding fee scale for patients without insurance. This sliding fee scale allows many to receive treatment who otherwise would not have been able to afford it.

For now, nothing will change. We will continue to provide high quality medical and behavioral health care at the Malvern School District Wellness Center at 1517 South Main St. At some point in December, we will finalize our moving date.

We encourage you to visit www.healthy-connections.org/malvern for more information. We’ll continue to provide updates there as we make arrangements for our grand opening.

Thank you for choosing Healthy Connections.
